Review: Prym Maxi & Generic Knitting Machines

I love circular machine knitting and because the Addi Express machines are so expensive, I’m always on the lookout for possible substitutions! In this video, I compare the Prym Maxi with a Generic, no-name machine (which pleasantly surprised me, btw!)

Be sure to check out links to all products discussed in this video.*

And I have a whole page on this blog dedicated to learning more about circular knitting machines! You can also find links to reviews of other machines here.

McCall’s 7565 Pattern Review | Fancy Machine Stitches

Finally, the “Jungle Book Dress” for my Disney Cruise has been finished! I have mixed feelings about it and have received some wonderful feedback from viewers! (See the comment section of the video page.) I definitely feel I look better in a more traditional shirt dress silhouette but this is meant to be fun and different! I’m not sure I dislike it enough to tackle the alterations. Time will tell!

I also showed my first attempt at using one of the fancy stitches on my machine! I loved the effect with some multicolored thread. Here’s sneak peak of the skirt:

Review: Knitter’s Journal

I was never a fan of a hard-copy-yarn-craft-journal. As a Techno Nerd, I always thought Ravelry was the only way to go. But then I was contacted to review this one.

Yep. It’s worth a look. AND I began to think of other benefits… like passing it down to another knitter in the family! Hmmm….  What do YOU think?

The Feel Good Yarn Company sent me a skein of this to try. Oh. My. GOODNESS!! I’m so excited about it I don’t know where to begin!!

(Note: I’m a geeky tech person so the ingenuity behind this product is right up my alley!)

REVIEW: Karbonz Interchangeable Knitting Needles

I was so excited to have the chance to try out some Karbonz Interchangeable knitting needles by Knitter’s Pride (or KnitPro if you live outside the U.S.) and I am pleased to say I loved them! They sent the “Midi” set which contains U.S. sizes 7,8,9, and 10 and is perfect for a variety of mid-weight yarn.

So, pick up your yarn, click the video and let me tell you what I discovered!

NEW Singer Knitting Machine

Guess what?! Singer appears to have used the Addi Professional as a model and revamped their children’s knitting machine. The first one (that has been out for years) was less than adequate. Click here for the link to that review.  But on a happier note, the new machine has promise for those who want to try their hand at circular machine knitting before they invest in a quality machine. HOWEVER, be aware that the old one is still on the market so be sure NOT to waste your money on that one! See what I’m talking about here:

Product Review: Yuzen Gift Boxes

My kids gave me a great gift this past Christmas: a Yuzen Gift Box Subscription. I can’t tell you how much I love this thing! It’s theme is… well… sort of “zen” spa products. You get them in sample sizes with coupon codes if you’d like to order the full size versions of ones you really enjoy. The quality of the box is so very elegant. I feel quite spoiled!

One of the things I love the most about it is that all the products are free of harsh dyes and chemical fragrances. Most are USDA Organic. I have to give this a a 5 Star Rating and highly recommend this as a gift for someone special. Many thanks to my clever kids!

You haven’t made the move to organics yet? HELLO! This is 2014! Here’s a post from my other blog that can give you a quick class on why we really need to: Living In Ignorant Bliss “You may think this stuff is boring but that doesn’t change the fact that your body is going to do its thing whether you learn about it or not. I really don’t recommend continuing to live in ignorant bliss!”
