As requested by Laura Brown, here’s an Addi Express King Size tutorial for a great hat! The Addi Fair Isle technique was taught to me in this video by The Answer Lady Knits.
- This pattern is recommended for Intermediate to Advanced Addi users!
- If you’re already familiar with fair isle on the Addi then the “pattern” below will be all you need.
- If you’ve never done fair isle on the Addi, please watch the video before you post a question!
This hat was done with Vanna’s Choice colors Purple, Pink and Mustard.

Margaret Thank you so so much for this awesome pattern and youtube tutorial. I tried several before and yours was the only to click for me because I’ve only been using my addi kingsize for about a month. Fantastic! I just ordered a smaller addi pro to make fingerless gloves, premie/newborn hats, and leg warmers for my little ballerina. Do you think this fair isle method will work just as well on the addi pro?
Absolutely! So far, I’ve never found a technique that wasn’t “interchangeable” between machines! However, keep in mind that the gauge is affected when you do fair isle. It makes a larger stitch. Toward the end of my most recent video, I show you this recent “discovery”: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j0YFX2dTU98
